Into the Woods

Me and the Knitter of Shiny Things had an IM (well not actually that IM, but that one works too) conversation about God not being Jewish.

If you would like to read her thoughts on this philosophical matter,

you should go Into the Woods...

He wears tallis and tfillin?

I'm still baffled by this imagery.

BOTH-

It's in Anim Zmirot:
קשר תפילין הראה לענו תמונת (הי) לנגד עיניו.

"He showed the tfillin-knot to the humble [Moses], the likeness of Hashem before his eyes" (That's Rabbi Artscroll's translation, not mine)

But Anim Zmirot is all about the weird imagery.

And Steg-

Perhaps you should post a warning sign on the entrance to my neck of the woods: "Beware of kfira...and cats, if you're allergic. No swimming in the miqva'ot unless a lifeguard is on duty." :-p

Maybe we all should have warnings on our blogs. I see the making of an awesome meme.

Proposed MEME: What warning would you have on your blog for the unsuspecting?

Why do you think they need to be warned?

What does that say about them?

And who else should put up a warning?

I'll post mine this evening.

I tag Steg, Knitter of Shiny things, and the Godol Hador (yes, I know, he had a warning on his erstwhile blog - he can post this on Dovbear's, seeing as he's posting there - kill two birds with one stone).

BOTH-

I put my warning up already, pretty much what it says on my previous comment.

Beware of Kefira is for the right wing Orthodox people who might read my blog. They should know that what I'm posting isn't going to agree with what they say. And I have a lot of anti-Orthodoxy rants there, so anyone who is bothered by that shouldn't read my blog. I don't think I'll turn anyone else into a kofer, though, so I'm not really worried, but they deserve to know what they're getting into.

(The cats thing is for Steg, since he's allergic. Why should he be warned? Because it would be bad if he started sneezing from reading my blog.)

No swimming in miqva'ot is there because it's a really bad idea to swim in archaeological ruins, especially ones without water!

So it says that a lot of people won't agree with what I'm doing religiously. And that I recognize that my archaeology is obscure and most people won't get it.

I think Jameel, Mah Rabu, All Your Beis, and Mar Gavriel (is he even posting anymore?) should have warnings.

I'll put this comment up as a post on my blog.
