Perfunctory Performance

I love how on Shemini ‘Atzeres afternoon in NYC it rained. We said Geshem, and then as my rav and I were starting our long walk to where we were eating lunch, it started to rain on us. But it only rained a little bit... just to be yotzei’.

The Tefillah for Geshem refers only to rain in Eretz Yisroel....

actually i dont think anonymous is correct at all... the timing of the tefillot for geshem and tal are based on the climates of Israel (AND Meopotamia), but you're actually praying for rain in your own location, whenever it is meant to naturally fall.

I'm always happy when rains on SA, especially SA night, so that the litvaks will have to eat in their houses like the chassidim do. Unity!!
