אני עם הצפון

Seen at the central intersection of the Valley of the Aboriginal Ghosts, Southern Jerusalem.

רחוב יוחנן בן זכאי
רחוב אלעזר המודעי
רחוב עמק רפאים
רחוב פייר קניג

Seen farther up the valley, at the intersection of רח' עמק רפאים and רח' רחל אימנו.

I wanted to also be "with the North" so I went up to Kikar Tziyon (intersection of Yafo street and the Ben-Yehuda midrahhov [pedestrian mall]) to donate blood. But they said I couldn't donate blood due to my hemoglobin iron level. It was too high(!), 18.1, and suggested I see a doctor when I get a chance. So I instant message'd our friendly neighborhood Jewish blogging doctor, who explained what the issue was and may have been.

In lighter news, look what I found at the supermarket:

(no i did not check the kosher certification on the dinosaurs)

PLEASE POST/HELP

The situation in Tzfat is desperate and there are families living with no electricity, who have absolutely no food at all! Even if they tried to buy some, most stores are closed. Ezer L'Shabbos is getting food from a supermarket on credit, but can't for much longer without paying. They also have to pay to have it delivered since most of their volunteers have left Tzfat. Sadly, the most vulnerable - large families with small children, Baali Teshuva without family support systems, are the ones left behind and are suffering. Please make checks out to Ezer L'shabbos and get them to Shloma Edelstein or drop them off in the mailbox or Pushka at Rabbi Twerski's shul (Ateres Shloime- corner of E29th & K).

You can also mail checks made out to Ezer L'Shabbos to: Tzfat Emergency Fund c/o Ordinal, 1412 Avenue M #2467, Brooklyn NY 11230.

wanna share how you got your iron too high? I might consider doing whatever-it-was, halfheartedly, and maybe get my iron high enough.

I don't know... it could have come from dehydration (i.e. low water level in my blood so higher concentration of iron or something like that). And dehydration is not something i would recommend.

WBS:

The first banner says Ha‘am ‘im haTzafon, "the Nation is with the North"; it's a take-off on the old Ha‘am ‘im haGolan slogan ("...with the Golan") from some time when Israel was considering giving the Golan Heights back to Syria. In this case there isn't any territorial retreat involved, it's just the idea of "they're getting bombed and we want them to know we support them."
The second banner says Toshavey haTzafon, anahhnu itekhem, "inhabitants of the North, we are with you". Same idea.
The three frozen shnitzel bags are dinosaurs, sea creatures (but labeled "animal fun"), and 'chicken teddy-bears'.

If I remember correctly the "Of Tov" has Rav Orbach's (Tiveriyah) Mehadrin Heksher.

Yet, another way to support the North?

I don't think it was the iron level but the hemoglobin level.

More importantly I think I may have helped him cure the problem of not seeing my Yahoo IM picture.
