Better Than Sparring With Celery

Baba — Ha’ish Vehahagada
Passover Haggada, illustrated and comicsafied* by Shai Cherka
(that's Tsherka not Kherka)

R' ‘Aqiva: Do you know what the ta‘am (=reason/taste) for eating karpas is?
Baba: Mm... a very good taste!

Zuta: No!... what's the reason for eating karpas?

(Baba thinks)

Baba: In memory of Pharoah!

Baba: In memory of Pharoah who was a potato-head and drowned in salt water!

(everyone else looks around confused)

Baba: What...?!

(*i made up that word, as far as i know)

Steg: My son was looking over my shoulder as I read your posting before, and he immediately shouted, "WHAT A RIP OFF" - THATS FROM THE BABA HAGGADA".

I calmly explained that you were QUOTING from the Baba Hagadda, and he slowly understood that. Still, I was impressed that while glancing at the text for a micro second he recognized that it was from the Baba Haggada ;-)

Moadim l'simcha!

why would you need to invent a new word when 'caricatured' would suffice?

Cool. All hail the Baba Haggada! :-)
Did you point out how the quote was explicitly introduced as such? Gotta teach these kids today to read more carefully... Btw, was it the Hebrew or English version that he recognized in a microsecond?

ADDeRabbi:

Hmmm.... 'caricatured' sounds to me more metaphorical. Like "that passover cake is a caricature of real cake", as opposed to illustrating a text using comicbook style art.

Steg: The Hebrew. Halevai it was the English he could scan so fast.

Then again, the font with the explicit introduction was alot smaller than the rest of the text. (on my laptop anyway)...so I guess he could be excused this once.
