About Me
- Name: Steg (dos iz nit der šteg)
- Location: formerly of the Valley of the Aboriginal Ghosts, Israel
(what's with that name?) I've cool kicked it up in NYC. I've hunted the Giant Albino Deer Monster in Upstate New York. And i've lived with the Aboriginal Ghosts whose name still haunts my homeland. So take it from me when i say that the Goblin King discusses his lesson plans with NOBODY!!!

I've never been to OZ, but I spent last summer at the heights at Mt. Sinai... But yeah. Frummy meat market. What fun!
Does OZ have a similar setup where the men and women face eachother like they do at Mt. Sinai? I always found it to be distracting.
Naaa, OZ has an oldschool balcony setup. If you like The Mountain Of God's architecture, though, check out the Kingsway shul in Brooklyn. Same design, but much larger (makes it look a bit absurd, in my personal opinion).
I prefer balcony. Or just a curtain running through the middle, like Yikar or Penn's sketchy mechitza (in the new Hillel building. Oh so sketch! "Our Mechitza is more transparent than Shira Chadasha's"~Meir Coisol, our former co-chair.) Mt. Sinai always gave me the feeling that I was being checked out or something. I would always have to look down into my prayerbook....
Is OZ really considered "LW"?
BZ:
I don't think it is, but the UWS in general is considered that way, at least in relation to WH. When i was trying to figure out where to move, one of my friends in WH said something along the lines of "move here, don't move to the UWS — people, y'know, aren't so frum down there." «snort».
Did you punch this "friend" who referred to other Jews & human beings so dimissively?
Brother:
no, because i was talking to them over the phone.
For those who are unclear what Nadav was referring to, he was talking about the friend who called UWS people "not so frum", not the person who said the quote in the body of the post.
huh?
Tikkunger:
it's a New York City thing
Gosh- as I really also have NO idea what is going on in this thread, I'll just wish you a happy end of the school year. Countin' down the days Steg?
OZ vs. Mt. Sinai:
I had the same impression, and I haven't been at either, at least during the last ten years. What does that mean? It means those bloggers who write about them passim are obviously good observers and writers. (Took me a while to understand that Mt Sinai isn't a casual ad-hoc hospital minyen back then, BTW.)
OZ is is fleishig market and a chillul Hashem when the singles spill out onto 95th street and block traffic. But, if you feel like getting laid in a hurry go to OZ.
OZ is EZ
Boy I'm out of it I thought the person was comparing OZ to the actual scene at matan torah!
Well it is almost shavous, and the hemlines were probably longer (but lighter not darker.)
mt sinai is a an awful shul
people go there just to hook up
anonymous:
ha ha you don't know what you're talking about
